Bring Your Own Key

Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) for LLMs

Greppilot supports Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) for Large Language Models (LLMs), enabling you to utilize your own API credentials for AI interactions. This provides direct control over API usage, billing, and access to specific model versions within your own cloud provider account.

Supported LLM Provider

Greppilot currently supports Anthropic Claude API keys for BYOK.

How it Works

When you opt for BYOK, Greppilot does not store your LLM API key on its servers. Instead, your key is stored locally in your browser and sent securely with each request that involves LLM interaction.

Configuration

You can configure your Anthropic API key during the Greppilot onboarding process if you select the BYOK option for LLM usage. If you choose the "Managed" LLM option, Greppilot will use its internal LLM provider.

To provide your key:

  1. During onboarding, select the "Bring Your Own Key" option for LLM.
  2. Enter your Anthropic API key into the provided input field.

Your API key is transmitted directly from your browser to Anthropic's API via Greppilot's backend proxy. This ensures your key is processed securely and is never persisted on Greppilot servers.

Security

Your API key remains under your control at all times. It is transmitted securely with each request and is never persisted on Greppilot's servers, ensuring you retain full ownership of your LLM provider account and usage.
